CHARM PCP

The ATMS DYNAC system is expandable with innovative functionalities. Some specific functions that significantly improve traffic management are not yet available on the market. As part of the CHARM programme, a pre-commercial procurement (PCP) project is designed to develop these functions.

The PCP project challenged the market to develop innovative traffic management functions. External companies have developed 6 new prototypes for incident detection, network management and in-car systems. A process in 3 phases, which ended at the end of August 2017 with 6 new, innovative and working solutions. These prototypes work with CHARM ATMS DYNAC.

Continuation of prototypes

All new function prototypes come in a certain form and order in the Road Traffic Management Implementation of Rijkswaterstaat and are important building blocks in such projects as Probe Vehicle Data, Floating Car Data and Talking Traffic.

Project partners and contractors

The CHARM PCP project partners are Rijkswaterstaat, Highways England, Flemish Department for Mobility and Public Works, Netherlands Enterprise Agency and Innovate UK. The contractors of the 6 prototypes are Mott MacDonald Limites, PSI Mines & Roads GmbH, Fileradar B.V., Goudappel Coffeng, Beijer Automotive B.V. and Cubic Transportation Systems (ITMS) Limited.
