Rijkswaterstaat Xperiment 2010

The LEF future centre of Rijkswaterstaat offers Dutch and foreign students 5 challenges in 2010.

• Are you a team player and do you want to develop a plan for 1 of these challenges during a period of 7 weeks?
• Do you want to benefit from coaching by experienced tutors of Rijkswaterstaat?
• Do you want to have the opportunity to present your ideas to Rijkswaterstaat?

Rijkswaterstaat listens and will implement your plans, where possible, in its organisation. We will select truly multidisciplinary teams of 5 students each, by selecting students with various educational and cultural backgrounds.

Last year, the following topics proved very successful:

• A preliminary idea about electrical driving (joint challenge with ProRail, the Dutch railways operator). This concept is chosen to be developed further in 2010.
• Blue energy. Plans were developed on how to use brackish water that forms after osmosis of salt and fresh water in the Dutch North Sea channel. The ideas about using this water as cooling water for steel manufacturer Corus and about the development of new private regional initiatives were discussed from national to provincial and district water board level.
